The House passed a bill Wednesday to end the nation’s longest government shutdown, sending the measure to President Donald Trump for his signature after a historic 43-day funding lapse that saw federal workers go without multiple paychecks, travelers stranded at airports and people lining up at food banks to get…

Ruger’s acquisition of Marlin Firearms in 2020 opened a lot of doors. I think most shooters, by now, have seen what Ruger has done with the classic Marlin 336 lever-action. It is downright beautiful, and it shoots just as good as it looks.  What many didn’t realize (myself included) was…

Adding a suppressor to your AR-15 fundamentally changes how the weapon operates. While most shooters understand that cans reduce noise and muzzle blast, few grasp the mechanical consequences happening inside their action. The reality is that threading a suppressor onto your muzzle doesn’t just make your rifle quieter. It transforms…

Pelican Re-set Kit Buy Now When it comes to expensive rifles needing maximum protection, nobody’s buying a soft case. Pelican hard cases have been the industry gold standard for many years, but now they’re being upgraded in the Re-Set package. A short bit of lore before we get rolling. I recently finished up the M110-ish article series. While the base rifle is a PSA Sabre-10, I had some custom work done to the barrel to add an M110 gas block. By the time I finished, I had a Leupold MK4 LR/T 3.5-10x scope, a Paq-4 IR laser, a Griffin Armament…

Whether you’re dealing with something as serious as a home invasion, following up a wounded animal, or chasing hogs in the middle of the night, a gun-mounted light is a great accessory. This guide details the options to weigh when picking an illumination tool, to use…

On Tuesday, September 2, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that an Illinois concealed carry ban on the CTA and Metra public transportation lines is not unconstitutional, reversing a previous federal judge who found the law in violation under current Supreme Court standards. The original ruling came after four concealed carry permit holders sued the state over part of its 2013 Firearm Concealed Carry Act, claiming the law prevented them from carrying weapons for self-defense. When the initial ruling was issued in 2024, U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston found that the state failed in its obligation to…

In one scene from National Geographic’s new limited series about naval fighter pilots, Navy Lt. j.g. Andrew Seepe speeds back to base in his T-45 Goshawk trainer following a successful skills test. High on the moment, he continues to accelerate until he’s about 100 over the prescribed limit of 350 knots.“Seepe, don’t ride the lightning,” a concerned tower operator radios. If this were a Tom Cruise film, Seepe would have chuckled and tried to spill the operator’s coffee. Instead, he sobers up fast, realizing his future career dreams are in the balance, and submits to an ego-bruising scolding and review without…

Russia has claimed that elite divers from the United Kingdom were the most likely culprits behind the Nord Stream pipeline’s sabotage. Nikolay Patrushev, a top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has claimed that Ukraine lacked the expertise to bomb the Baltic Sea pipelines, so outside “help” was necessary. Seymour Hersh: CIA Planted Nord Stream Cover-Up Story in the Media In an article published Sunday in Kommersant, the former head of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Nikolay Patrushev, posed the theory that Ukrainians lack the expertise to carry out this operation independently because of its complexity, according to a report…

I enjoy hunting as much as the next diehard, but one of my favorite parts of deer camp is the food. Fresh tenderloin over the fire or even a hunk of summer sausage and cheese just tastes better after freezing in a treestand all day. This year, forget flimsy plastic forks — or God forbid a spork — and skewer your meal…

The Xinhua Institute, a Chinese think tank, has proclaimed that the so-called “American Dream” is nothing more than a manipulation tool. It says that the ruling class in the United States tries to sell the American dream back to its citizens by lying about the benefits of being American. The “American dream”, as defined for use by this Chinese Institute, is the belief that hard work and talent can guarantee a good life, regardless of social class or origin. It is one of the illusions the U.S. sells, the report said. Who Owns America? Oligarchs Have Bought Up the American…

President Donald Trump is swiftly implementing his vision of the military as an all-powerful tool for his policy goals. It’s ground that presidents have hardly ever crossed outside of times of war, and experts say it’s remaking the role of the most powerful military in the world and its relationship with the American public.Yet as Trump has dramatically stepped up his use of military force, fellow Republicans in Congress — where authorization for such actions is supposed to originate — have done little but cheer him on. That’s giving the president significant leeway as he raises plans to send troops…

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources issued two advisories last week around forever chemicals contaminating fish and game meat. The DNR issued a “Do Not Eat” PFAS-based consumption advisory for all fish species caught in the Moen Chain of Lakes, in the northern part of the state. The department also advised hunters to only consume venison once per month from deer that were harvested within a 5-mile radius of the area. Equally concerning is the department’s advisory to not eat mallards…

In a move that is alarming to gun-ban advocates but being cheered by Second Amendment supporters, the Trump Administration Department of Justice (DOJ) has requested to present oral arguments in support of Illinois’ ban on so-called “assault weapons.” In the cases Barnett v. Raoul, the DOJ in June filed an amicus brief with the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, not in support of the state, but of the plaintiff’s suing to have the ban overturned. “Three years ago, the Supreme Court issued a landmark decision meant to break a habit developed by some States of treating the Second Amendment as…

Both chambers of Congress will work to advance the annual defense authorization bill this week, trying to navigate through hundreds of member amendment proposals and adopt final drafts to be used in upcoming conference negotiations. Senate leaders late last week set up votes starting Tuesday on the must-pass military legislation, which includes spending plans for hundreds of Defense Department programs and the renewal of a host of military pay and benefits programs. Meanwhile, the House Rules Committee will meet Monday afternoon to discuss its planned path forward on the bill. More than 1,000 amendments were filed by members to that…

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The End of the American Dream.  Remember these days, because these are the days when global leaders could have reversed course before it was too late.  2025 has certainly been a year of war, and it appears that things are poised to go to an entirely new level in the months ahead.  If we do not choose to step back from the brink, eventually we will be pushed over the edge.  Sadly, we just continue to see escalation after escalation as we tumble toward the unthinkable. Meanwhile, ominous signs continue to…

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Washington — The U.S. Army has an ambitious plan to field autonomous platforms across all its divisions in 2026. During a recent demonstration in the Pacific Northwest, it put that plan to the test, handing over the first batch of systems to a group of soldiers for a trial run. The mid-August special user demonstration at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington was part of a project called Launched Effects, a term the Army coined to describe a class of autonomous system that isn’t quite a drone or a loitering munition but can be launched from the ground…
