Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, has declared “Gaza is on fire” after the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reportedly conducted intensive overnight airstrikes on Gaza City. At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that Israel must prepare itself to be isolated and sanctioned. The Jewish state “will not relent” until Hamas is defeated, Katz wrote on the social media site X. “Gaza is on fire. The IDF is striking with an iron fist at the terrorist infrastructure, and Israeli soldiers are fighting bravely to create the conditions for the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas. We…

Since taking office, Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has doubled down on the legacy of his progressive predecessor, pushing forward aggressive gun control measures, supporting controversial criminal justice policies, and leaning heavily into a political playbook that many say has weakened law enforcement and emboldened criminals. His administration’s recent legislative moves have sparked backlash from sheriffs across the state, caused rifts within the Washington National Guard, and alienated a growing segment of law-abiding citizens, especially in rural and eastern parts of the state. Now, one veteran and former law enforcement officer is speaking out.In the open letter below, William D. Foster offers…

Sign up for the Quick Strike Newsletter The hottest fishing news, tips, and tactics I’ve said and written countless times in the past that every U.S. angler should fish for Florida peacock bass before he or she leaves this world. They may not be native, but they are — in my opinion — the hardest-fighting fish in American freshwater. There are also several perks to a stateside peacock pursuit. For starters, you don’t need any specialty tackle, and if you fish for smallmouth bass, you likely have everything you need already. Second, though there are some fabulous peacock guides from…

This article was originally published by Finn Andereen at The Mises Institute.  Human conflict is an intrinsic part of human nature; it is as natural as tears. As Leo Strauss wrote, in modern society, “the original conflict between moral demands and desires remains intact.” Individuals and their various enterprises often have conflictual relations with each other. These can take many forms and are often non-violent. However, only state actors engage in war, and only modern states engage in modern war. Not only do states alone have the necessary means for war at their disposal, which are not available to other actors…

The service started a process to review its existing standards nearly two years ago. A group of Army leaders and stakeholders found many of the rules to be ambiguous and difficult to interpret, Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer said during a Sept. 8 media panel. The updates, which go into effect Oct. 15, seek to keep a conservative appearance for both men and women, Weimer said. “What sets the U.S. Army apart is our professionalism, and that’s a direct reflection of committed Soldiers who adhere to and enforce the standards,” Weimer said in an announcement of the new…

As NATO prepares for a potential Russian invasion of the Baltic region, there are many questions. In an era of drones, hypersonic missiles and kill chains, how might combat go amid the fields, forests and islands of the area? Some answers may be found in a new tabletop wargame. “Littoral Commander: The Baltic” isn’t just used by the military as a training tool. Civilians can also purchase it online and play it on their kitchen table. The game depicts a Russian invasion of the Baltic region around 2030. In addition to the Baltic states, the 11 scenarios in the game include a…

Gideon Advocate Micro Prism Buy Now The world of 1X prism sights can often seem confusing. They’re essentially a red dot sight, but with what can seem like worse eye relief, a worse eyebox, and a dimmer reticle. So what’s the point? This perspective, while not necessarily wrong, completely ignores the benefits of a 1X prism. Furthermore, the Gideon Advocate does a few things to mitigate the flaws often found with prism optics. The Advocate is a 1X prism aiming to complement red dots Gideon is a fairly new company in the budget optics market, but it has made a…

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s pursuit of a clean-shaven military took its latest step Monday when the Pentagon announced that troops who require medical shaving waivers for longer than a year will face involuntary separation, according to an official memo. The announcement, which is dated Aug. 20, follows a force-wide review launched by the Pentagon in March to assess military grooming and fitness standards. In the memo, Hegseth mandates that troops who seek individual exemptions must receive final waiver approval through their unit commander, which can only be granted after a written recommendation from a medical officer. Service members granted waivers…
