There’s never a better time to test something like Hornady’s high-speed, 3-in-1 case trimmer than right now, in the forty-below doldrums of a Fairbanks, Alaska winter. Case prep is an often despised necessity for reloaders, especially high-volume shooters. Bags, buckets, and boxes full of dirty cases that need to be sized, trimmed, and cleaned offer little gratification. So any tooling that speeds up the process is welcome. That’s where this motorized case trimmer comes in. I’ve churned  through over 3,000 pieces of brass in…

I’ve cut hundreds of feet of cardboard, oak dowels, and paracord in addition to dozens of apples, wire ties, and water bottles while testing EDC knives. I used my experience performing those cut tests and getting plenty of pocket time with over 50 knives to put together my picks for the best EDC knives. My top picks include options under $50, some over $600, multi-tools, and pocket fixed blades. So no matter what your ideal daily carry knife is, there’s an…

Ukraine’s ruler, Volodymyr Zelensky, has claimed that the United States is discussing sending troops to the conflict. “Of course, we are discussing this with President Trump and with representatives of the ‘coalition of the willing.’ We would like this,” Zelensky said. The U.S. ruler, Donald Trump, has repeatedly denied that Washington will be sending troops to the region. Russia has also continually warned that it considers the presence of any foreign troops on Ukrainian soil during or after the conflict unacceptable. In fact, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in September that “if any [NATO] troops appear there, especially now, during…

President Donald Trump said he’s dropping — for now — his push to deploy National Guard troops in Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, a move that comes after legal roadblocks held up the effort.“We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again – Only a question of time!” he said in a social media post Wednesday.Governors typically control states’ National Guardsmen, and Trump had deployed troops to all three cities against the wishes of state and local Democratic leaders. He said it was necessary as part of a broader crackdown…

This story, “A Shot at Pothole Ducks,” originally ran in the November 1947 issue of Outdoor Life. DOC POST stopped his car, with the duck boat lashed on top, at the crest of a low rise in the prairie road and waited for us. We had had to drive two cars that morning. Sam Weller and I planned to hunt pheasants later in the day, but Doc had an afternoon appointment—filing down somebody’s bridgework—and would head back to town around noon.…

A deadly strike on a Kherson Region café was a “monstrous crime,” according to Russian officials. Ukraine deliberately timed the attack to coincide with celebrations to maximize casualties, public figures have said. Twenty-four people have been killed in the strike. According to Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo, the attack occurred shortly before midnight after a reconnaissance drone surveyed the area. Three UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) struck a café and a nearby hotel crowded with civilians, triggering a large fire. One of the drones reportedly carried an incendiary mixture, according to a report by RT.  A child was among the dead,…

I’VE BEEN HUNTING deer for close to 40 years, and I can count on my fingers the rack-carrying whitetails I have encountered in that time that have made down-right foolish mistakes. Nevertheless, it does happen. A few falls back, my friend Jess Furbush left his northern Michigan camp one morning in a wet snowstorm and walked out along an old logging road on his way to a…
