I’m not sure what Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz expected when he called a special session to try to pass an “assault weapons” ban and other anti-gun legislation, but apparently it wasn’t uncooperative pro-gun Republicans. Walz, the failed vice presidential candidate, called the special session following the August 27 shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church, where a trans man fired into the windows of the church during the school’s first Mass of the year. Democrats had said that during the special session, they would be seeking not only the ban on so-called “assault weapons,” but also the re-enactment of the state’s binary trigger…

Long before daybreak on Sept. 16, 14-year-old Samantha Bartlett and her dad, Noel, were in the mountains of north-central Pennsylvania listening for bugling and rutting bulls. They were crossbow hunting elk on state-owned public land with two guides hired from Trophy Rack Lodge outfitters. “We’d hunted a lot of miles in other places for three days and saw lots of elk,” Noel tells Outdoor Life. “But Samantha wanted a big bull, and while we saw some, she just couldn’t get the…
This article was originally published by Rhoda Wilson at The Exposé. The US Department of Homeland Security has built a massive DNA surveillance system, collecting over 1.5 million genetic profiles in four years. The DNA collection programme, which includes data from US citizens, minors, and the elderly, raises concerns about genetic privacy, due process, and the limits of executive power. The system, which uses Palantir’s surveillance technology, lacks transparency, oversight, and accountability. The US government is abusing its immigration powers to amass DNA for future policing, a report from Georgetown Law said. The following is a summary of an article published by…
Chicago politicians will do nearly anything to combat violent crime except the obvious solution—arrest, charge, convict and jail violent criminals. In fact, some of their remedies to the city’s murder problem are quite interesting, although not exactly effective. According to a recent report from NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), a “violence interrupter” working for CeaseFire Chicago was recently arrested, convicted and sentenced to 22 years in federal prison for, you guessed it, violent crime with a handgun. In this case, it was a string of brazen carjackings that left one victim suffering from a gunshot wound and others threatened…
Defense officials’ efforts to address service members’ gambling problems don’t go far enough, according to a new report by government auditors. While DOD has updated its guidance on steps to prevent and treat gambling disorder, that guidance doesn’t specifically identify who is responsible for implementing certain tasks related to that support, Government Accountability Office auditors said in a report released Monday. For example, it doesn’t designate staff who will be trained to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat gambling disorder. By taking those actions, DOD and the service branches can increase their ability to address issues related to gambling among troops, auditors said.…
China remains America’s top threat in space and is catching up to the United States military’s space capabilities at an “incredible pace,” according to a top Space Force general.“They are bringing on capability, I won’t say daily, but at least monthly, that puts our assets at risk,” Lt. Gen. Douglas Schiess, the commander of U.S. Space Forces-Space, told reporters at the annual Air & Space Forces Association conference in National Harbor, Maryland, on Wednesday.“China is definitely our biggest threat,” he said.According to Schiess, the Chinese are building a “kill chain,” or attack process, for targeting U.S. maritime, land and air…
Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadTalking about civil war preparedness isn’t something I enjoy. However, with tensions as high as they are—and nearly half the country believing it’s likely—it’s something we need to consider. A 2024 Marist poll found that 47% of Americans believe a second civil war could happen in their lifetime. When you consider the political anger, the cultural divide, and the daily signs of growing hostility, it’s not hard to see why. Add to that the foreign governments and domestic agitators who benefit from keeping us angry and divided. Then factor in how fast information—true or…
The California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) has teamed up with the Second Amendment Foundation to sue Santa Clara County over outrageous CCW Fees and requirements, claiming the procedure and the price tag render the application process unconstitutional. How onerous is the process? According to the CRPA, the fees required by the county to apply for a CCW cost upwards of $1000, but that’s only the beginning. Additional expenses include a $400 training course and $500 psychological exam, both of which are mandatory. Throw in a set of fingerprits and you’re looking at a $2000 bill to exercise that which…
The United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, has demanded an urgent meeting with top military generals and admirals from around the world. The most violent people in history will gather at a Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, next week, in an unprecedented move that is causing anxiety almost everywhere. The meeting was convened by the newly rebranded “Department of War,” of which Christian Nationalist Hegeseth leads. While the Pentagon confirmed the meeting, it offered no details on the reasoning or possible motivations. “The secretary of war will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week,” chief spokesman Sean…
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that he has decided that the 20 soldiers who received the Medal of Honor for their actions in 1890 at Wounded Knee will keep their awards in a video posted to social media Thursday evening.Hegseth’s predecessor, Lloyd Austin, ordered the review of the awards in 2024 after a Congressional recommendation in the 2022 defense bill — itself a reflection of efforts by some lawmakers to rescind the awards for those who participated in the bloody massacre on South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Indian Reservation near Wounded Knee Creek. While the events of that day are sometimes…
