Mayer’s blue catfish taped out at 59.75 inches long and was caught using common carp as bait. His new state-record catch easily outstripped the Kansas record that had stood since 2012, a 102.8-pound blue catfish caught by Robert Stanley of…

This article was originally published by John W. Whitehead and Nisha Whitehead at The Rutherford Institute.  “When the states legalize the deliberate ending of certain lives… it will eventually broaden the categories of those who can be put to death with impunity.”—Nat Hentoff, The Washington Post, 1992 Bodily autonomy—the right to privacy and integrity over our own bodies—is rapidly vanishing. The debate now extends beyond forced vaccinations or invasive searches to include biometric surveillance, wearable tracking, and predictive health profiling. We are entering a new age of algorithmic, authoritarian control, where our thoughts, moods, and biology are monitored and judged by…

They say your body is a temple. In the military, that temple is often covered in eagles, unit insignia and enough skulls to make a biker gang blush. For generations, tattoos have served as both a rite of passage and a record of service for members of the military. From the crisp anchors and hula girls of the World War II era, to the modern proliferation of Punisher skulls, sleeve tattoos and kinetic imagery, military ink tells a story — sometimes literal, sometimes regrettable, but always worth telling. The roots of military inkThe connection between the military and tattoos stretches back hundreds…

If you’re not careful, you’ll use up a whole summer eating barbecue, drinking beer, and fishing. Too much of that stuff will soften your shotgun swing as much as your belly. Next thing you know, it’ll be opening day of duck season, and you’ll make an ass of yourself by tearing through three boxes of shells and not cutting a feather. Picking up a shotgun in the off-season does you good. Fortunately, there’s a world of wingshooting opportunity available all summer…

Ukrainian drones have targeted Moscow, and in retaliation, Russia has struck Kiev with missiles. This war is continuing, regardless of the West’s interference, sanctions, or threats. A new medical study of military toxic exposure symptoms set to be published this month indicates that individuals who served around dangerous burn pit smoke may face a greater risk of mental health and brain trauma issues. The research, conducted by the National Institutes of Health in conjunction with the Defense Department and Department of Veterans Affairs, analyzed the health records of nearly 440,000 troops who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001 to 2011. The findings show higher rates of depression, mood disorders, intracranial injuries and traumatic brain damage among troops stationed near toxic burn pits, giant waste fires…

A German general is commenting on what Ukraine “should” be doing to further push the world toward a global war. Major General Christian Freuding, who oversees Germany’s military assistance to Ukraine, gave advice to the country that would only ignite more fury from Russia. Freuding also confirmed earlier this month that Ukraine would receive its first batch of long-range missiles financed by Berlin before the end of this month, in less than ten days. Ukraine should consider striking Russian airfields and weapons factories deep inside the country to alleviate pressure on the front, a senior German general has suggested. This…

There was no such thing as a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War… or in Vietnam. Instead, every Marine unit that ventured out on patrol was accompanied by a U.S. Navy corpsman universally known as “Doc.” Although unarmed, the willingness with which these field medics risked their lives to save the riflemen beside them made them widely respected as “honorary Marines.” Their sacrifice on the battlefield often took the form of throwing their bodies over enemy hand grenades, for which many received posthumous Medals of Honor. One such corpsman, Donald “Doc” Ballard,…
