This Friday, the U.S. and Iran are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU), turning a page on this conflict’s chapter, which military families hope leads to peace. Having recently welcomed my service member home from a 272-day deployment to the Middle East, diplomacy is an immense (albeit temporary)…

As an outbreak of New World screwworm continues to plague ranchers, with 12 cases confirmed in domestic animals in the Southwest over the last two weeks, officials in Texas and at the federal level are shifting some concerns to wildlife. These worries are especially high in South Texas, where the deadly parasite could wreak havoc on whitetail populations and the state’s multi-billion-dollar deer hunting industry. KYIV, Ukraine — Senior White House officials publicly placed Ukraine’s military ahead of allied counterparts in Europe across four venues last week, and in some respects ranked Kyiv ahead of the United States itself, even as U.S. President Donald Trump has continued to dismiss Ukraine’s military strength. The Ukrainian armed forces are “the strongest, most powerful armed forces in all of Europe,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last week, citing a five-to-one Russian-to-Ukrainian casualty rate and four years of battlefield adaptation. The necessity of fighting the war, Rubio said, has pushed Ukrainians to develop “new tactics, new techniques, new equipment, new…
An Army gynecologist in Texas accused of sexually abusing and secretly recording female patients is now facing mounting allegations involving nearly 100 victims, military prosecutors announced Wednesday.Blaine McGraw, 48, now faces eight charges and 273 specifications involving 96 victims, The service’s Office of Special Trial Counsel said in a statement, expanding an already sprawling case. The Army said the alleged misconduct occurred between 2019 and 2026, a span that dates back years further than previously announced. The office previously announced in April that McGraw, who is assigned to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas, faced six…

The annual “fever” the author refers to below might be giardia — we really can’t recommend wading in beaver ponds anymore. We had fished the beaver bog with no success for nearly an hour, but Jeff, my six-year-old son, and I knew the trout were there. We had seen them darting under logs in the pools as we approached. But no matter how carefully we tried to creep up, the trembling earth…
This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge. Ali Vaez, director of the Iran Project at the International Crisis Group, has summed up where things stand: “Since the ceasefire came into effect, both Washington and Tehran appear to be operating under the illusion that time is on their side,” he said. “Each seems to believe that the blockade and counter-blockade in the Strait of Hormuz impose greater costs on the other, while offering a breathing space to regroup for a possible resumption of hostilities,” Vaez told Al Jazeera. On Wednesday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a fresh warning amid this ongoing standoff,…
The U.S. military services are planning to ask for exceptions to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s decision to allow military personnel to decide whether to get an annual flu vaccine, after years of requiring the shot. Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Anthony Tata told senators Wednesday the department has solicited input from the services, which are now coming back “with a robust set of exception” requests. Tata said the exceptions are “draft pre-decisional” and will be gathered by the department, reviewed and sent to Hegseth for final decisions. “We are talking submarines, we are talking about ships, we…

Most of the bows we shot this year were like a luxury sedan, comfortable and packed with features. The Sicario was the lone sports car in the group. It’s bow that’s made for speed. But, it’s not just an ordinary speed bow. It changed our long-held belief that speed bows…
Less than two months after U.S. forces rescued two crew members behind enemy lines after their aircraft was shot down over Iran, filmmaker Michael Bay has confirmed he will be helming a movie based on the mission.Backed by Universal Pictures, the “Transformers” director is slated to shepherd the speed-of-light-turnaround project based on the April 3 shoot down of a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle and subsequent rescue of its crew during U.S.-led operations against the Islamic Republic, Deadline reported. While the risk of Ebola and hantavirus to Americans is low, the World Health Organization, along with other experts, says that both are still a concern. However, health officials state that the Ebola outbreak is a far more serious epidemic than the hanatavirus. “I am deeply concerned about the scale and speed of the epidemic,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at the World Health Assembly on May 19th, according to a report by TODAY.com. The Ebola Scare Begins: The Worst Outbreak Of Bundibugyo Virus Disease In World History The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an entry…
President Donald Trump told Coast Guard Academy graduates Wednesday that they inherited the legacy of “some of the most daring and intrepid Americans ever to live” and will “go onto greatness themselves” in service to the country. Speaking in New London, Connecticut, to more than 230 commissioning officers, Trump praised the cadets — some of whom already have saved lives or been involved in major counter-drug operations — for “unbelievable heroism and exceptional selflessness.” “No matter how terrible the storm, no matter how difficult the mission, never surrender. Keep going, keep fighting and make the adversary quit first,” Trump advised…

Sign up for the Quick Strike Newsletter The hottest fishing news, tips, and tactics It’s always special when a fish breaks the surface to inhale a topwater lure, but when it comes to freshwater bass fishing, it’s also a cultural phenomenon. Since the sport’s earliest days, bass anglers have consistently developed new and improved topwater lures to entice largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass. Catching one—or more—that way is of course exciting and rewarding, but most of all in the hands of a skilled angler, it’s a way to catch bigger fish consistently. Over the years, we’ve seen the topwater windows…

The U.S. Marine Corps plans to reduce the amount of time in service needed to qualify for the rank of sergeant, according to a recent administrative message. Currently, Marines have to serve at least 48 months before they can become an E-5, but that will change beginning Oct. 1, when TIS is reduced to 30 months. In the message, the Marines explained that the last change to the policy was in fiscal 2020, when it upped the required TIS from 24 months to 48. “This change favored longevity over performance rather than competition among high-performing corporals,” the message said. The…
The United States and Nigeria conducted a joint operation in which 175 members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were killed. These fighters were said to be both simple militants and senior commanders. The Trump administration sent troops to Nigeria back in February in what was described as an “advisory and training role”, though the recent operations indicate a more active role for the US military in the African nation. The latest strikes come days after Abuja and Washington announced that a joint military operation in the Lake Chad Basin killed senior Islamic State commander Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, who…

But in death, he granted his family — and now the world — a greater window into the Academy Award-winning actor turned combat pilot.“My father didn’t speak about his war experience very much,” his daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, told Military Times. “After he died, my sister found a journal, a handwritten journal that he had kept during the war” alongside his flight logbook filled with little scribbles, drawings and sketch marks from both Stewart and his men. The journal, according to Stewart-Harcourt, “described dad’s fears and his uncertainties, uncertainties about the war…
