This article was originally published by Michel Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog. The housing bubble that burst during the Great Recession was enormous, but it was nothing compared to what we are facing now. Two decades ago, the average price of a home in the United States was about…

In the early American military, specifically the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, food, logistics, medicine and morale were inseparable. Chocolate and cocoa fit that world neatly. They were calorie-dense, easy to transport and more shelf-stable than most comforts soldiers could count on.By the middle years of the Revolutionary War,…

Under the Trump administration, wait times for mental health care at the Department of Veterans Affairs have increased while morale among employees has plummeted with the loss of 40,000 people, Senate Democrats said in a new report released Thursday. Actions taken by President Donald Trump, VA Secretary Doug Collins and the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, in the past year have affected services and research at the VA, harmed workers and delayed care and benefits to veterans, said Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, ranking Democrat on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. According to the report, appointment wait times for new…
Neurable, a consumer neurotechnology startup, has partnered with the Air Force to study whether electrode-studded headphones can track service members’ cognitive fitness, much like Garmin smartwatches have monitored Space Force members’ physical fitness, company and government officials said this month. The $1.2 million project adds to the Pentagon’s growing investment in the $3 billion market for brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) — helmets, earbuds, other wearable devices and medical implants that use artificial intelligence to make sense of brain signals. Elon Musk’s Neuralink, perhaps the most high-profile implantable example, has enabled clinical trial patients who cannot move or speak to type words…
According to the United States ruler, Donald Trump, the European countries he threatened with tariffs don’t need his help to fall into ruin. Trump claimed that they are making “horrible” decisions and “destroying” themselves. Trump’s Unhinged Tariffs On NATO Countries Over Greenland Dispute Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, Trump said that while the U.S. wants to see Europe succeed, “it is not going in the right direction.” Is Europe the next region Trump will set his sights on for regime change, takeover, and control? He blamed European nations’ uncontrolled migration policies and what he called…
The world’s largest aircraft carrier is experiencing difficulties with a service that is an integral part of every sailor’s life — the bathroom. The USS Gerald R. Ford, which cost roughly $13 billion to manufacture and most recently played a part in U.S. strikes against Venezuela that saw the capture of its sitting President Nicolás Maduro, is facing consistent plumbing issues with the nearly 650 toilets aboard the vessel. The complications primarily involve the Ford’s vacuum collection, holding and transfer system, or VCHT, which transports and disposes wastewater by sucking fecal matter through pipes using pressure. The issues, however, have had no effect…

While much SHOT Show coverage has historically emphasized new gun introductions, we’re increasingly seeing convention-bending (and wallet-straining) product launches in the electronic and optics categories, and this year’s show might be the best example of that yet. So far we’ve seen a revolutionary new rangefinder from Garmin, a stabilized spotting scope from Swarovski, and a weathermeter and ballistic calculator from Vortex that…

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has warned that the theft of Russian assets would be considered an act of war by Moscow. De Wever made the comments while explaining why his country is opposing a European Union reparations loan to Ukraine. If the frozen Russian assets currently being held in the European Union are dispersed, the government of Russia would consider that a war declaration. According to a report by RT, Western nations froze an estimated $300 billion in Russian central bank assets following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022. The bulk of the funds, which…

Colorado wildlife managers announced Wednesday that they are no longer planning to release additional gray wolves into the state this winter. The announcement comes as the state has failed to secure a source for gray wolves, and it follows a pair of letters from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service calling out the reintroduction program. The first letter, sent in October, ordered Colorado Parks and Wildlife to “cease and desist” its plans to import an additional 15 wolves from British Columbia…
“Don’t try to tell the British that America won the last war or make wise-cracks about the war debts or about British defeats in this war,” came the sage advice from the U.S. War Department in 1942.A then-seven-page pamphlet, issued to American GIs about to travel overseas to Britain, was intended to ease any friction between the young servicemen and the local populace. According to librarian John Pinfold who wrote the subsequent introduction, the pamphlet, dubbed “Instructions for American Servicemen in Britain 1942,” attracted quite a bit of attention in Britain. Sgt. Bert Spence teaching a British boy to play…
After the successful removal of Nicolas Maduro from power in Venezuela, the United States now seek a regime change in Cuba. Originally declaring that the operation was over “narco terrorism,” it was quickly revealed that the U.S. simply wanted control of Venezuela’s natural resources. So what’s going on with Cuba? Should Cuba, Canada, Greenland And Venezuela All Be Owned By The United States? Currently, the U.S. ruling class is searching for allies within Cuba’s government in order to help facilitate regime change. The U.S. believes that Cuba’s economy is “close to collapse and that the government has never been this…
The U.S. Coast Guard is facing further scrutiny after a recent Government Accountability Office report cited ongoing failures in how the service has reported cases of sexual assault and harassment to Congress since 2022. The GAO found that in a 2022 report to Congress on this issue, the Coast Guard reported 226 incidents of sexual assault and 88 incidents of sexual harassment. That report, however, contained only five of the 11 required reporting elements, only partially included four and did not include two, the GAO stated. Some of the required elements of a complaint include victim information; incident details, such…
ZHYTOMYR, Ukraine — “These peace talks feel like cognitive dissonance to me,” “Primo” wrote in a message to Military Times while deployed in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, home to Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, which has been under Russian occupation since the early weeks of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The 42-year-old air reconnaissance squad commander added that the sense among his troops are that the talks are “pointless” and “irrelevant.” Military Times agreed to refer to all active duty soldiers by their nom de guerre for operational security.Talks that kicked off with a November ultimatum by President Donald Trump…

This article was originally published by Connor O’Keeffe at The Mises Institute. In recent weeks, President Trump has been getting more vocal about his intention to bring the semiautonomous Danish territory of Greenland under the control of the American federal government. A meeting was held last Wednesday between officials from the US, Greenland, and Denmark that, according to the Danish foreign minister, didn’t move the dispute any closer to a resolution. Since then, Trump has been repeatedly signaling that he’s willing to send American troops in to take it by force if the Danish government doesn’t agree to hand it over peacefully.…
