Jimmy Kimmel: Can We “Agree That It Is Horrible and Monstrous To Shoot Another Human?”

Jimmy Kimmel: Can We “Agree That It Is Horrible and Monstrous To Shoot Another Human?”

There has finally been a voice of reason coming from the left. Jimmy Kimmel, who infamously acquired Italian citizenship because of Donald Trump’s election, asked a pertinent question. “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” Kimmel wrote on Instagram.

“I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel said. “What’s going on [with Trump] is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It’s so much worse; it’s just unbelievable. I feel like it’s probably even worse than he would like it to be.”

Kimmel has not been shy about his criticism of Trump, frequently mocking him on his late-night talk show, and Trump has shot back. Kimmel has also vocally condemned the right for some of the policies it pushes. Over the summer, Trump frequently posted on his Truth Social that Jimmy Kimmel Live would be the next late-night show canceled after CBS revealed Kimmel’s Late Show would be ending next year, and the franchise was being canceled.

In the face of the criticism and back-and-forth banter, Kimmel made it clear that the murder of those you disagree with is still murder and still wrong. Charlie Kirk was not a member of the ruling class. He never made a law or forced his views on others. He simply spoke his ideas.

Kimmel’s comments came after Kirk was fatally shot Wednesday during a rally he was hosting at Utah State University in Orem, Utah. Kirk was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit political advocacy group that backed Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election. According to a report by Deadline, Kimmel did not agree with Kirk’s ideas but offered his condolences anyway.

Kirk’s murderer has not been apprehended at the time of this writing. A suspect had been in custody but was released, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation director Kash Patel, after questioning.

A high-powered, bolt-action rifle was recovered in a wooded area near Utah Valley University campus, and authorities say they have a “good video” of the shooter. That video has not been released yet; however, they remain open to sharing the video to elicit the public’s help in identifying the person who killed Kirk.

We should all be able to agree that murder, in cold blood, is wrong. Killing each other is wrong. Bad ideas will fizzle out when confronted by good ideas, and we should all strive to improve and seek the truth, rather than silence those with whom we disagree. This is not the time to point fingers, blame inanimate objects, or try to justify murder. It’s time to come together as humanity and state, “murder is wrong.”

What do you think? Are we seeing the downfall of human society as half don’t even see murder as morally wrong anymore? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
